The only major difference from last week is there is about 4-6″ of snow on the ice. It’s wind blown so its kind of like riding the whop’s on a motor cross track.
Heaves are still everywhere, but solid so just go slow and pick your way around.
The HRBRRD are releasing a lot of water so the water level going down 4″ a day. So the heaves can form fast they might not be there in morning but on the way home may have formed.
There is 4 more inches of ice then last week. The south end has 13″ while the average is 12″.
Up past Ponderosa Pines in the town of day there is 11″. Desiree at Ponderosa hasn’t seen that much in years. There is a poker run today, out of Captain Nautis. Conditions are perfect for it.
Also not enough snow to stop wheeled vehicles. You can still get everywhere with wheelers and side x sides.
Get out visit all your favorite places, and shanties. it’s going to be a great week to be on the sacandaga.
Also they are burning that big tree in mosquito Bay tonight after 5p.m. Meaning Saturday the 22 The more the merrier they said to post it and let everyone know. I am sure it’s going to be a good fire (knowing who’s doing it.)
Fishing:
We are heading into the mid winter lull. With the ice coming late we missed most of the early ice bite. But the walleyes have been biting decent for about 3 hours a day. At first light and just at sundown. No surprise there. Pike are slowing down and perch have been slow. Even if your last name is Cromling. Haven’t heard much on trout.
Tip of the week:
don’t let your shanty freeze in. (Even if it’s on Shore)
